At the Annual Meeting of the congregation on January 26, 2020, four members of the Cathedral will be elected to the Vestry, Class of 2023. The Vestry oversees the temporal affairs of the Cathedral parish and works closely with the Dean in guiding the life and ministry of the Cathedral. Serving on the Vestry is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the Cathedral community and help shape its future. Meetings are held 10 times a year, currently on the fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. (This day and time are subject to change with the new leadership.) Regular attendance is essential. Vestry members are expected to serve on at least one Standing Committee or Strategic Plan Committee.
Currently these include:
- Social Outreach
- Ministries to GHTC (Newcomers, Hospitality and Care, Congregational Life)
- Ministries to our community and beyond (Ecumenical and Interfaith Engagement, Community Engagement, Social Justice)
- Building and Grounds
- Safety and Security
Nominees for Vestry must be committed parishioners who:
- regularly attend Sunday Eucharist;
- actively participate in the life of the parish; and
- have been pledging members of the Cathedral for at least six months prior to the election.
If you would like to nominate yourself or another parishioner, you may submit that person’s name via email to email@example.com no later than December 15, 2019. (Before nominating someone else, please discuss with that person first.) The nominating committee will evaluate potential candidates and publish the slate in early January.
