Milwaukee Children’s Choir

MCC2

At the Cathedral

The Milwaukee Children’s Choir will visit the Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral June 25-26. This choir is Southeastern Wisconsin’s premier youth choir.  Since 1994, Milwaukee Children’s Choir has been delighting audiences and providing children, ages 4-18, with exceptional choral music education and performance experiences that foster creativity, personal expression and social growth. On June 26, the choir will sing at the 10:15 a.m. service and will sing an Evensong and short concert at 5 p.m.

The Cathedral is seeking housing for the members of the choir. Please contact Canon Schaefer if you can provide two overnights and hospitality for two or more youngsters, jschaefer@kccathedral.org.

More About the Choir

Our Mission
Milwaukee Children’s Choir provides children, ages 4-18, with exceptional choral music education and performance experiences that foster creativity, personal expression, and social growth.

Biography
Milwaukee Children’s Choir is Southeastern Wisconsin’s premier youth choir. Since 1994, Milwaukee Children’s Choir has been delighting audiences and providing children, ages 4-18, with exceptional choral music education and performance experiences that foster creativity, personal expression and social growth.

As an audition-based, advanced children’s choral music program, Milwaukee Children’s Choir maintains six levels of choral education for children from K4-12th grades. Offering rehearsal locations throughout the Greater Milwaukee area, the Children’s Choir incorporates children from throughout the whole of Southeastern Wisconsin. Milwaukee Children’s Choir also serves children during the school day at two Milwaukee Public Schools and after school at two City of Milwaukee schools, providing music education through its grant-funded Harmony Program.

Now celebrating its 22nd season, Milwaukee Children’s Choir maintains a collaborative relationship with area schools while also supporting area music educators through clinics and workshops. The Choir developed and annually hosts the Milwaukee Choral Conference, an intensive choral workshop for choral conductors as well as current and aspiring choral music educators, created to explore solutions for promoting and preserving the choral arts today and for future generations. Conference clinicians have included Dr. Anton Armstrong, Henry Leck, and Dr. Rollo Dilworth. Other frequent collaborations include those with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra when the symphony’s repertoire calls for children’s voices and those with the Milwaukee Ballet such as its annual production of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s, “The Nutcracker” or Michael Pink’s world premiere of “Peter Pan.” This season, ETERNA, Milwaukee Children’s Choir’s premier choral ensemble, will be featured at the Wisconsin Choral Director’s Association State Conference in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Milwaukee Children’s Choir utilizes Voice for Life, an internationally recognized, advanced music education curriculum. From vocal development and musical literacy to leadership skills, the curriculum builds upon each chorister’s artistic excellence and character. The Choir also offers regional, national, and international touring opportunities for students. Recently, the Choir toured throughout the East Coast, culminating in a performance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

Milwaukee Children’s Choir is a proud member of the United Performing Arts Fund, the American Choral Director’s Association, Wisconsin School Music Association, and Chorus America.
