Happy New Year and happy Epiphany season! I hope everyone had a blessed and merry Christmas and a happy start to 2026. January is a busy month at the Cathedral as we have lots going on to start this new year.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Deacon Clare will be ordained to the Sacred Order of Priests in the Diocese of Kansas. The service will be at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Cathedral in Topeka. All are welcome.
Clare will then preside at both of our morning services on Sunday. This Sunday is also the first Sunday after the Epiphany and, as is our tradition, we will bless and distribute Epiphany chalk at all three services for marking the entrances to your homes. Remember, the season of Epiphany is an appropriate time for blessing your homes, as well. If this is something that might interest you, please contact the office to let me know.
Next Saturday, January 17, we will be hosting a Diocesan service of Evensong celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Bishop Amy will join with me and other members of the diocese as we welcome the Rt. Rev. John T.W. Harmon, Bishop of Arkansas, as our preacher. The service is at 4 p.m. with a reception to follow in Founders’ Hall.
Rounding out January, we will host Diocesan Ordinations to the diaconate on January 24, and our Annual Meeting will take place following the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, January 25. There will only be a 10:30 service that day so all three congregations can come together for the meeting, and to elect new members to the Vestry.
I am looking forward to a wonderful new year at the Cathedral. Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, our nation, and the world.
