“Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal…” Philippians 3:13–14
Called Forward in Faith
As followers of Jesus, we are always being called forward.
In his Letter to the Philippians, Saint Paul speaks of a faith that does not remain fixed on the past, but presses on toward God’s future: “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.”
Those words speak powerfully to the Church in every generation. We give thanks for all that has brought us to this moment: the prayers of those who came before us, the ministries that have shaped us, and the faithfulness that continues to sustain this parish. At the same time, we know that God is not finished with us yet.
God is still calling us onward—deeper in faith, wider in love, and stronger in mission.
This is the spirit in which we enter our stewardship season.
What Stewardship Means
Stewardship is more than fundraising. It is a spiritual practice.
Everything we have is a gift from God: our life, our faith, our time, our abilities, our resources. Stewardship is our response to those gifts. It is the way we offer ourselves back to God with gratitude and trust.
When we make a financial pledge to the Church, we are doing more than supporting a budget. We are participating in the life of Christ’s body. We are helping to sustain worship, prayer, learning, pastoral care, fellowship, and outreach. We are making it possible for the Church to serve God’s people today and prepare for the ministries of tomorrow.
Our giving is one way we say:
- Thank you for what God has given
- Yes to the mission God has entrusted to us
- We are ready for what lies ahead
What Your Gift Makes Possible
Through the faithful giving of this parish, our shared life in Christ continues to grow.
Your pledge helps make possible:
Worship
The Eucharist, Daily Office, music, prayer, preaching, and the holy rhythms that form us as disciples.
Formation
Christian education for children, youth, and adults; Bible study; spiritual growth; and opportunities to deepen our faith.
Pastoral Care
Support in times of joy, sorrow, illness, grief, transition, and need.
Fellowship
The relationships that strengthen our common life and help us know one another as siblings in Christ.
Outreach and Service
Ministry beyond our walls through acts of compassion, justice, mercy, and service in the wider community.
Care for Our Cathedral Home
The stewardship of our buildings and grounds so that they remain places of welcome, worship, and mission.
Every gift, whatever its size, helps us continue the ministry God has placed before us.
Looking Toward What Lies Ahead
As we look to the coming year, we do so with hope.
We do not know everything the future will bring, but we do know this: God is faithful. And God continues to call this Cathedral to be a place of prayer, belonging, service, and witness.
What lies ahead for us?
The future of the Cathedral lies ahead:
- in the lives that will be touched by worship and prayer
- in the children and youth who will be formed in faith
- in the neighbors who will be served in Christ’s name
- in the newcomers who will find welcome here
- in the ministries we will strengthen
- in the opportunities for mission we have not yet imagined
The future of the Church is not built by fear, but by faith.
We invite you to prayerfully consider your pledge for the coming year. As you do, reflect on these questions:
- Where have you seen God at work in this parish?
- How has this community shaped your life in Christ?
- What ministries do you hope will flourish in the year ahead?
- How is God calling you to give in gratitude and hope?
Your pledge is more than a financial commitment. It is a sign of gratitude for God’s gifts and commitment to the mission we share together.
Thank you for your faithfulness and generosity. Together, we press on toward the goal God has set before us.
Yours faithfully in Christ,
The Very Rev. Dr. Andrew C. Keyse, Dean Steve Moore, Senior Warden
