Attention all lovers of Trivia…tonight’s the night! Please join us at 6 p.m. in the Common Room for Trivia Night. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks to share and be part of the action. I had to miss Trivia Night last year, so I’m glad to be able to be there tonight.

Next Saturday, August 29, will be Diocesan Ordinations to the Priesthood in the Cathedral at 10 am. Please join with our diocesan family as four candidates for ordination will be ordained by Bishop Amy, one of them being Deacon Richard. The next day, August 30, Richard will celebrate the Eucharist at both morning services.

September is shaping up to be quite busy. Just to highlight some of what is coming:

• 9/9 – NW Metro Deanery end of summer gathering at the Cathedral from 5-7 p.m.
• 9/12 – Tiki Cup Croquet Tournament on the north lawn from 12-5 p.m.
• 9/13 – Ministry Fair after both morning services
• 9/20 – Formation classes begin

We also have some music related activities. There will be a Woodwind Ensemble on 9/18 and a Piano recital on 9/25. The choir is having an Open House on 9/20 (Sunday) and 9/24 (Thursday) for anyone interested in singing.

Monday is the Feast of St. Bartholomew. This is probably one of the lesser-known Apostles, but there are many Episcopal churches that bear his name. Nothing is really said of him in scripture apart from his being named one of the twelve Apostles in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. “His name means ‘Son of Tolmai,’ and he is sometimes identified with Nathanael, the friend of Philip, the ‘Israelite without guile’ in John’s Gospel, to whom Jesus promised the vision of angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” (Lesser Feasts and Fasts, p. 364) Even though we don’t know much about him his except his name, we still celebrate his being an apostle and witness for Christ.
