From the Desk of Dean Andy • 05.15.2026

I am looking forward to my sabbatical leave which begins today. It will be a time of rest, refreshment, and reflection for me, allowing me to return renewed and ready to continue serving all of you and the community as your dean. I will not be checking my work email during sabbatical so that I can truly get away.

• If you need anything during this time, our Senior Warden, Steve Moore, is canonically in charge of the Cathedral.
• For pastoral needs, please reach out to Canon James, Mother Clare, Deacon Barbara, or Deacon Richard.

I know you will all be in good hands while I am away, and you will all continue to be in my prayers.

Some of you have asked what I will be doing during the sabbatical. As you read this, Beth and I will be driving to Chicago for Mary-Mullis’ graduation from Columbia College on Sunday. The following week, we will be leaving for a trip to France and Italy, exploring Paris, Tuscany, and Rome. We will also take our usual summer trips to see family, go to Sewanee, and the beach in SE Florida. Between these various trips we will be home in Kansas City. I know the time will go fast and I will soon be back with all of you in mid-August.

That is what is coming up for me, but for you there are several events this spring/summer:
• The Lyric Duo in concert tonight,
• the Parish Picnic on Pentecost (5/24),
• our celebration of Trinity Sunday (5/31),
• parish breakfasts,
• KC Pride Parade and festival, and
• game nights.

I may be away for a time, but life continues at the Cathedral, and I hope you’ll participate in these events.

Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, for me on sabbatical, for our nation, and the world.
