| Our Gospel reading this Sunday calls us to move forward — in our lives and in the work we are called to do. For clergy, this is true in our ministry as well. We have just bid Clare good luck and best wishes as she transitions into her new position as the curate for college ministry in Canterbury House at Kansas State University. Now, it is time to do the same with Deacon CJ. CJ will be ordained a priest on July 26 at the Cathedral and will preside at both morning services the next day. We will have a chance to bid him farewell following the July 27 10:30 service and wish him luck as he transitions to his next call to be the Priest-in-Charge at Church of the Holy Family in Park Forest, Illinois, Diocese of Chicago. May we hold both Clare and CJ in prayer and may God continue to bless them in their ministry. Speaking of holding people in prayer, I ask your prayers for all those attending Happening this weekend in the Diocese of Kansas including Henry Galus who is serving on the staff. We pray that the staff and all the young Happeners going through the weekend will have their lives enriched and their faith strengthened. Votes keep coming in for our movie night planned for Friday, July 25. Thank you to all who have voted. We will update you Sunday morning on which movie is winning, and voting will continue through Sunday evening. I will miss you this Sunday as I will be the guest preacher at Grace Cathedral in Topeka for both morning services. I will be back to preside and preach at the 5 p.m. service. Please give a warm welcome to the Very Rev. Torey Lightcap, Dean of Grace Cathedral, as he will be our guest preacher for both morning services. Dean Torey’s wife, Jacquie, will be with him as well. Dean Torey suggested this pulpit swap several months ago as a way to get to know our Diocesan neighbors just a little bit better. I am grateful for the opportunity and thankful to Dean Torey. Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, our nation, and the world. |
