It’s Convention time! The 136th Convention of the Diocese of West Missouri begins today with a Celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 5 p.m. followed by dinner for all the delegates. Tomorrow we will have our business sessions, elections, and annual address from the Bishop. Please keep all of us in your prayers as we meet together at the Cathedral.

We have a lot happening the rest of November.

  • This coming Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be our Stewardship Gatherings at 6 p.m. (please click here for Locations, Sign-up).
  • Next Sunday will be our Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan celebration at both morning services, complete with pipes and drums.
  • Evensong will take place at 5 p.m. next Sunday.
  • Movie Night will be November 21 at 6:30 p.m. with movie starting at 7:30 p.m.
  • Our Thanksgiving service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 27.

Here’s an update on our Stewardship campaign, Love in Action: Growing in Faith and Community.

  • To date, we have received 42 Pledges totaling $194,837 toward our goal of $465,000.
  • Our pledge ingathering will be November 23.

I would like to remind you that at this time of year requests for assistance go up. We do our best to manage the discretionary funds we are given to best help those in need. It is hard to give immediate help if someone calls asking for food staples, baby formula, etc., because we don’t keep those items on hand. Also, people usually call rather than come in. What we can do is direct them to resources in the area that either serve food, like Nourish KC, or have a food pantry. We also have the ability to place an order for some items to be delivered directly to them in a timely fashion. As always, we continue to assist with rent and utilities.

Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, in thanksgiving for all Veterans, for our nation, and the world.
