Our Lent is off to a good start. Am I allowed to say that? Lent is good in that it helps us to focus on our wilderness journey, focus on our own spirituality, and draws us closer to Christ as we prepare for Easter.
Our Lenten program continues on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Common Room. This past Wednesday Canon James took us through the Burial Office and discussed the theology of dying as we see it in the Church. (Missed the class? Watch it here) This next week Dr. Lucas Fletcher will discuss music choices to accompany the Burial Office.
And speaking of music, there is a free concert this evening at the Cathedral at 7 p.m. “I Hold My Soul: music by women composers” featuring tenor Jacob Sentgeorge, mezzo-soprano Courtney Fletcher, and pianist Mia Kim.
Next week’s “From the Desk” will come to you from Charlotte, NC, as I will be there attending this year’s Episcopal Parish Network (EPN) Conference. Joining me will be Canon James, Julie Toma, Steve Moore, and Colin Chambers. We will focus on seminars dealing with stewardship, leadership, and growth. We will also hear from our Presiding Bishop, the Most Rev. Sean Rowe. I look forward to being with friends and colleagues from around the Episcopal Church and bringing back great ideas for the Cathedral.
Please continue to pray for one another, for our Cathedral family, our nation, and the world.
