Dear Cathedral Family,
The Season of Pentecost is a season of growth. During this time, we have readings that are meant to teach us about being better people as we grow in faith and in doing all that Christ calls us to do. We hear from prophets and apostles about loving God and our neighbor, and we hear from Jesus about how to be better stewards of all that God has given us.
Growth is vital to us as individuals and as a family of faith. Learning and growing is something we all do together as we hear the words and teachings of Jesus and are supported by the great cloud of witnesses who have come before to show us the way. Bearing this in mind, our theme for our 2026 Stewardship campaign is Love in Action: Growing in Faith and Community.

In my Dean’s Report this year, and at our Annual Meeting, I asked that all of us work to help grow our community. Our Vestry retreat this year focused on ways to invite more people in, make more people aware of who we are, and grow our community.
I’m happy to say all of our efforts are working. By actively loving one another and our neighbors we have grown our congregation. We have visitors every Sunday and we are adding new members to our community. We are sharing who we are and what we do on our social media pages and platforms and through livestreaming our services. We grow in community by inviting others in and sharing what we have.
We grow in faith through our many offerings of formation on Sundays and throughout the week.
We are showing love in action through our parish gatherings, game nights, and movie nights. We are showing love in action by gathering to help others through our monthly outreach collections, volunteering at food pantries, or helping package and label meals through Pete’s Garden. We are showing love in action when we respect the dignity of every human being.
Though the season of Pentecost will once again come to an end, love never ends. Growth never ends. Our faith remains strong as long as we are actively loving one another. The writer of Hebrews told us a few weeks ago to “let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have…” Paul writes to Timothy and says that the people “are to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share…” In keeping with these teachings, we ask that we all continue our commitment to the work and ministry of our Cathedral in 2026.
In the coming weeks, we are offering ways to come together as a community, as a family, to learn more about actively loving and growing together. We will have a stewardship lunch on October 19, following the 10:30 service. While there, you will have the opportunity to sign up to come to someone’s home in your part of Kansas City to continue in fellowship and conversation, to continue in love and growth.
You may make your financial commitment and support our continued growth by returning the enclosed pledge card to the Cathedral, by turning your card in at the lunch, home visits, or in the offering plate. You may also make your commitment online through the Cathedral’s website. Thank you for your continued care and support of Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral.
